What I'm working on now
Wax Paul Now is a short mockumentary premiering Fall 2019 at the St. Louis Film Festival, the Virginia Film Festival, and AFI Fest.
It's about a real-life online viral movement I co-founded to get Paul Giamatti his own wax statue at Madame Tussauds in Times Square.
Somehow we got Paul to agree to be in it. Destiny is real, people.

Val Bodurtha is a comedian and writer whose debut novel-written at seventeen-won the 2017 Young Writer's Publication Contest and a Silver Benjamin Franklin Medal.
Since then she's moved to film and humor writing, one of her pilots placing as a quarter-finalist in the Fresh Voices Screenplay Contest and one of her screenplays placing in Top 50 for the ISA Fast Track Fellowship and as a quarter-finalist in the Atlanta Film Festival. Though she's won over two-dozen writing awards in total, Val's first love remains stand-up, and she opened for Jerrod Carmichael while undergrad at UChicago.
Val's most recent work is a short mockumentary featuring Paul Giamatti, which was accepted to 2020's Miami Film Festival and 2019's AFI Fest, an Oscar-qualifying film festival. Her ultimate goal is to write film and TV with good twists, funny or otherwise.
